Podcast: DITCOW 2021 NFL Draft Preview w/ Ron in NJ (04-28-2021)

April 28th, 2021 · Comments

2021-04-28-nfl-draft-preview.jpg

Ron in NJ returns for our annual DITCOW NFL Draft Preview show.  There is high drama surrounding the top three picks in the draft, with many rumblings about the 49ers trading up to the 3rd overall pick with the unusual choice of picking Mac Jones at QB from Alabama.  Could that be an overpay by the Niners and what would be their other choices?  Plus the other big QBs in our draft, with the clear-cut #1 projected pick of Trever Lawrence out of Clemson likely going to Jacksonville.  We chat some other big prospects like Zach Wilson, QB out of BYU, and Trey Lance, QB out of North Dakota St. (FCS).  It also looks like a big year for Wide Receiver prospects like Jaylen Waddle and Devonta Smith both from Alabama.  Ron gets into a number of big prospects such at Kyle Pitts (TE), Penei Sewell (OL), Patrick Surtain II (CB), and many more.  Lastly, Ron and Dave present their mock draft for the first round and other predictions for this year's draft in Cleveland, OH.

Podcast: Super Bowl Week 2021 Part I - Chiefs/Bucs Preview (02-03-21)

2021-02-03-super-bowl-55-preview.jpg

Our Football Picks Crew of John, Ron, and Andy join Dave to discuss the Super Bowl LV matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Tom Brady enters his 10th Super Bowl at 43 years old while Patrick Mahomes enters his second Super Bowl at 25 years old.  It's a great matchup of youth vs experience, of offense vs slightly better defense, and of two coaches who have been there before: both the Bucs' Bruce Arians and the Chiefs' Andy Reid.   We look at what the keys are for each team to win and whether Tampa Bay can pull the upset.  Later we offer our score predictions and dig into some game-related Prop Bets near the end of the show.

John, Ron, Dave, and possibly Andy return to the show to recap a truly Super Wild Card Weekend in the NFL and a dominant performance by Alabama in the CFP National Championship against Ohio State.  The guys look at the latest jewel in Nick Saban's hand full of rings in Tuscaloosa, plus Heisman Winner Devonta Smith's amazing first half performance.   Later, we make our picks for the Divisional Round which include the surprising berth of the Cleveland Browns after their shocker in Pittsburgh at the Kansas City Chiefs off a bye.  The Rams go to Green Bay to play the Packers with Jared Goff's thumb in very uncertain condition.  Lamar Jackson finally gets over the playoff win hump and takes his Ravens to Buffalo to host the seemingly determined Josh Allen and the Bills.   In New Orleans, it's a showdown of aged QB legends Tom Brady and Drew Brees as the Bucs try to upset the Saints.   The guys have all the scenarios and more from the NFL playoffs as we roll into another big football weekend.

It's our DITCOW Season Finale and our Football Picks Finale for 2020.  John in Orlando joins us as our Week 15 guest picker as we recap arguably the best NFL game of the year so far between the Ravens and Browns.  Lamar Jackson comes out of the tunnel after an apparent injury and leads the Ravens to a comeback win in an otherwise back-and-forth meeting with Cleveland.  More ridiculous bad beats blow covers for teams in the NFL schedule, the Eagles shock the Saints with Jalen Hurts' first start, and more action from both NFL and the College Slate.  LSU upsets Florida out of nowhere to blow up their playoff chances, games are cancelled in various conferences in part to aid the path for the top teams in the sport, and USC outlasts UCLA in a great game featuring a bad beat of their own.  We look ahead to the Week 15 football action which includes a fantastic Saturday chock full of Conference Championships and an NFL Doubleheader.  Later we look at who to watch for in the NFL playoff chases, make our picks, and reflect on a very different holiday season within a pandemic.

2020-12-09-football-picks-wk14.jpg

Chris in Syracuse is our guest picker as Ron, John, and Dave break down the miracle comeback loss for the Jets as they keep their #1 draft pic hopes alive in a dubious finish against the Raiders.  Carr throws a touchdown pass to Henry Ruggs to also keep the Raiders playoff hopes alive.  We cover that and many other wacky endings in a wild, wild NFL Witching Hour last weekend.  Later we dig into the absurdity of the playoff rankings, the dearth of juice in College Football, a roundup of our panel's bad beats of the week, and the picks.   Ron, Dave, and John are separated by only 5 points in the season standings, and we see what each of them offer to close the gap or extend the lead.   Plus, we get Andy and Chris' picks as we head to the home stretch of the season.
