2022 MLB Trade Deadline Recap, Remembering Vin Scully (08-03-2022)

August 3rd, 2022 · Comments

Gerry Will and Andy in Seattle join in to recap what was a very exciting MLB Trade Deadline.  The Yankees don't get Juan Soto as many expected, but they land a batter in Andrew Bennintendi, pitcher Frankie Montas, and many other solid players.  Juan Soto instead goes to the Padres, who will also have team control of Soto for two more seasons.   The crew will break down all the notable moves across MLB and how they will fuel a potential second half for some contenders.

We'll also cover the legacy of Vin Scully who died on Tuesday at the age of 94.  He was truly a great of greats, and arguably the best baseball announcer of all time.  He also was an incredible human with an amazing life.  Gerry, Andy, and Dave will share their stories of great Vin Scully moments.  A mid-season baseball recap to set up the playoff changes in August and September.

MLB Update with Gerry and Andy (05-10-2022)

May 10th, 2022 · Comments

We're taking a break from football this week to give you all the latest from Major League Baseball.  Gerry Will joins us to break down the happenings with both the Yankees and Mets, plus the suddenly good Angels who have been rolling lately.  Can they keep on winning vs the solid Tampa Bay Rays?   What does one make of the much lower scoring to start the season?   What was it that kept the sport going and avoiding a nasty extended lockout?   All this and much more from the national pastime.  Andy in Seattle joins the show 30 minutes in and we'll also get into the struggling Red Sox, a now-woebegone Nationals franchise, and the upstart Giants in an extremely competitive NL West.  The Dodgers are playing up to their reputation as World Series favorites so far while the Cubs are hitting new lows, especially on offense.

We'll also have some fantasy talk on this episode, highlighting the pitchers and hitters to watch for various fantasy and DFS leagues.

Podcast: 2020 MLB Offseason Show with Ari and Gerry (01-23-20)

January 23rd, 2020 · Comments

Gerry and Ari are back for this year's MLB Offseason Show.  The dominant topic for 2020 was the massive penalties for the Astros following MLB's investigation of their sign stealing in 2017.  Both the G.M. and Manager were suspended one year, followed by the Astros firing both persons outright.  The crew dig into why this was such a black mark for baseball, and how the suspensions were appropriate punishment, then speculate as to whether MLB should have gone even further with player punishments.  Afterwards, we get into collateral damage from the scandal: the Red Sox and Mets firing their respective managers Alex Cora and Carlos Beltran.  After that, we get into the numerous big transactions so far from the offseason.  Cole signs a giant contract to pitch for the Yankees, Rendon gets a pretty sizable contract to play third base for the Angels, and other big names move to new teams on a much better offeason than the 2019 offseason one year earlier.
