Blog: Runts vs Skittles

May 4th, 2016

I'm a big fan of Runts, a lesser known fact.  Much of the time I prefer runts to Skittles, although Skittles are very good.  Here's the deal: Runts finish what Skittles started.

Skittles comes out, tells you to "taste the rainbow" and suggests many fruit based flavors, but once you actually eat them they just taste like different levels of sugar.  Taste a runt, not only do they taste like the fruit you think they are, but they are shaped like the same fruit types.  Banana looks like an actual banana.   Orange is round just like an orange.  Strawberry has the shape of a strawberry, and so on.  Little did I know that Runts rolled out these new grape flavored runts.  Those are fantastic!

Hard to believe I came on here to blog just one thing, but here it is.   I'm very sorry I couldn't find the topic or guests to put on a show this week.   This year is a little different than most with the DITCOW podcast.   I have to take the stories as they come.  It hasn't been a whole lot of show material.  I was thrilled to see 5000 to 1 underdog Leicester City win the BPL, "Premier League" championship in soccer.   The only thing is, I'm so unfamiliar with the sport of soccer that to try to cover that without a strong core of guests would do them a dis service.   I would have needed to catch on to the story sooner to book the guests that would properly cover a BPL story.  Here's how out of touch I am with the Premier League.  I only found out a week ago they don't have a playoff system. Can you believe that?!  Hahahahahaha, they don't even have a championship game a la the World Cup.

Aside from that we had the good fun from the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, which, while very enjoyable, don't present a lucrative opportunity branch out into any particular theme for the show; we're going to save our continuing NHL coverage for the final two rounds.

I do not know what is going on with the NBA; I think we have one series with potential in progress and that's OKC/Spurs.  I'll comment more on that later; obviously a huge win for the Thunder to tie up the series, we'll see about Game 3 in OK.

Speaking of "OK" do you guys remember those signs at Chevy dealerships that had the  circle and the scribbled "OK!" inside the circle?   What was the deal with those "OK's?"   They seemed so friendly and even kid-like, but I didn't think much else of them.

You guys heard on here about "the baby" but we have some other characters around the neighborhood.

  • Introducing Mr. Cougher.  This old guy coughs up a lung without fail, EVERY FREAKING NIGHT.   I reached a point where I genuinely worry about his health.  Some nights are worse than others.   One night recently he was really going at it, coughing so hard to the point of puking.  I really hope he's ok.
  • Mom the Yeller -- wait, this is a really bad name to use.  The "mother who yells a lot" is too verbose.  This quite non-PC name will have to do.  Anyway, man she is yelling at her poor kid all the time.  Just letting him have it.   but in fairness, Moms have to be tough on their children.  She isn't saying anything abusive, just stuff like "put that down!"  "Don't run around the house!"  but she really belts that stuff out.  Kid must misbehave a lot haha.
That's who we have as our neighbors; it's a wonderful neighborhood and these silly antics are so tame compared to most neighborhoods out there.   I'm much better off listening to this than sirens and gun shots.

My mom was very nice; she would get tough on me sometimes, but usually she was very understanding and giving.   I love my Mom.  She's wonderful.  Happy Mother's Day!

I think that's all for now, but yes, hope Mothers Day is good for you all.
